The most beautiful shopping centre in the world – Pierre Cardin

Beauty and history are some of the feelings that attract many thousands of people to this fabulous old building every day. Built in 1898, as a monument to the long reigning monarch Queen Victoria, it serves as a shopping centre containing more than 200 shops. Situated between Market Street and Druitt Street in the CBD , the building is a major attraction for Sydney visitors and residents as a deeply historic place in the citys culture. It showcases the connection between England and Australia in the historic artefacts still there today. Most notably the Royal Clock, which was made in England and placed in the building after the renovation of 1986, the Crown Jewels, which are on display and crafted on the originals that are kept in the Tower of London and the Time Capsule, which contains a letter from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II written in 1986 and to be opened 99 years later in 2085.

You can expect everything from food, to fine art, to the best of contemporary male and female fashion and the finest foods. There are cafes and restaurants on every level, just in case you forget to eat while taking in all the history and shops. A great place to find some authentic Australian goods, souvenirs and pieces to bring home and show off. Nearby areas worth a look is the always busy Pitt Street Mall across the street, Hyde Park for a break away from shopping and crowds and Darling Harbour for a nice relaxing drink.
