To the south of Sydneys CBD lies the enthusiastic area of Haymarket. An area where there are lots of markets but very little hay! Haymarket lives up to the diverse nature of the city with includes much of the citys Chinatown , the Spanish Quarter and the Paddy Markets. No youre not lost in some cultural twilight zone, this is just the wonderful mixture of ethnic flavour Sydney has to offer. The Chinatown is fittingly filled with noodle bars, grocers and food halls specialising in genuine Asian cuisine, so you can fill up until your fingers are raw with chopstick use. The spirited Spanish Quarter is a great place to experience the great Mediterranean feeling of Spain, with tapas bars and flamingo dancing washed down with the fruity cool taste of Sangria.

And if you came to Haymarket looking for bargains, well youre in the right place because over at Paddys Markets, which coincidentally has an Irish connection (surprise surprise), is the best place for offering just about everything you bargain hungry people would want from clothes to souvenirs and fresh produce. But just because the set has set in Haymarket, it doesnt mean you have to leave because this cool suburb is quickly gaining a reputation for itself as a great late night entertainment venue. Restaurants are open till late and the popular, City Night Markets (Fridays from December to June) sees visitors and locals gather in the area to be wowed by entertainment and street theatre, fine food and outdoor dining, alfresco shopping and just an overall mix of cultural vibrancy. Located nearby are the Chinese Garden of Friendship , Darling Harbour , the Powerhouse Museum and the Sydney Entertainment Centre .
